Excel Hobby Knife

To start off my modelling journey, I’ve invested in the Excel hobby knife, which cost about USD7 and came with a few extra, specialized blades.

On the box it says “Lite Duty Knife” but I hope it will be enough to get me through my first few model aircrafts at least. This is an expensive hobby when you’re just getting started, there is no doubt about that.

I could have bought a regular art blade from the bookstore and it would have cost me 60% less.

But I told myself I’m going to get everything I need before I get started on my models. I’m not going to be an impatient little boy and ruin my models by not being prepared.

The Excel handle is just as good as the Exacto handle but usually a little cheaper. Just keep a supply of fresh supply of #11 blades and it will last a lifetime.
